Harare City thrash Border Strikers in Chibuku Super Cup

Harare City got their Chibuku Super Cup defence off to a flying start when they hammered Border Strikers 4-0 at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon.

Jerry Chipangura put Harare City in the lead on the 23rd minute mark. Despite going behind Border Strikers showed glimpses of a possible come back and almost equalised when Farai Matsutsunye struck the upright just before halftime.

But things were to fall apart in the second half as Harare City opened the floodgates.

Ronald Chityo doubled the lead with a stinging shot into the right hand corner before Edwin Madanhanga added the third with a header.

William Manondo then made it four to complete the thrashing with twenty minutes to full-time.

The result means Luke “Vahombe” Masomere starts his tenure on a losing note and will need his team to seriously improve to stand any chance of remaining in the top flight.
