Arsene Wenger sets Champions League record

Jose Mourinho once called Arsene Wenger a ‘specialist in failure’.

It’s a reminder that might sting for the Arsenal coach after Wednesday night’s 2-1 loss in their Champions League opener away at Dinamo Zagreb.

Not only was it a poor result in a match the Gunners were expected to win, but it also brought up a new and unwanted record for the Frenchman.

It was Wenger’s half century of Champions League losses, a record for the competition.

He has coached Arsenal since 1996, accumulating a record of 617 wins, 250 draws and 206 losses, per SoccerBase.com.
