Chibuku Super Cup Match Report: Dynamos beat FC Platinum on penalties

Dynamos knocked out defending champions FC Platinum out of the Chibuku Super Cup after winning 7-6 on penalties.

Tatenda Mukuruva was the hero for the Glamour Boys after the match had ended 0-0 in regular time.

The match had a lively start with both teams getting good chances in the first ten minutes of the game.

Rodreck Mutuma probably had the best early chance when he found himself through on goal but he effort was saved by Petros Mahari.

Takesure Chinyama had a chance barely a minute late but could not hit the target from an acute angle.

FC Platinum came quite close in 9th minute Winston Mhango goal bound freekick was just tipped over by Mukuruva

In the 23rd minute Dynamos went even close when Rodreck Mutuma header was saved on the line.

The match became more balanced as the half progressed and the halftime break came with thedeadlock yet to be broken.

The second half saw FC Platinum dominate the possession and have the edge on Dynamos but couldn’t make it count as the game weathered on.

Takesure Chinyama seemed to be brought down in the box in the 61st minute but Dynamos’ penalty claims were waived away.

With two minutes to full-time FC Platinum almost got punished when they failed to clear the ball from their penalty box but Dynamos couldn’t pounce.

With the match 0-0 at full-time the match headed into a shoot-out.

The first five spot kicks saw both teams failing to convert one .Winston Mhango had his effort saved by Mukuruva while Ronald Chitiyo missed for Dynamos.

Mukuruva then saved FC Platinum 7th spot kick before Obey Mwerahari scored the winning penalty. Dynamos  now meet Chapungu in the semi-finals.
