Minister calls for ZIFA presidential election fee reduction

Running for ZIFA presidency may not be cheap with interested candidates needing to fork out a fee of $5 000 to run for the post if things don’t change.

The high figure was used for the last elections where Cuthbert Dube was re-elected earlier this year.

However the amount has been seen criticised and seen as prohibitive for aspiring candidates, with new Sports and Recreation Minister Makhosini Hlongwane suggesting the amount should be changed to something reasonable.

Hlongwane had suggested a figure of $500 instead.

A final decision is expected to be made this week when the electoral committee meets to draw up a road map for the elections that are set to be held on the 5th of November.
