ZIFA appeal for government funding

Cash strapped Zimbabwe football Association (ZIFA) has appealed to the government seeking sponsorship of $120000 for the Warriors and Mighty Warriors upcoming games.

Zifa wants $35000 each for the home matches for both the Mighty Warriors and the Warriors and $50000 for the Warriors away trip to Lesotho.

The Warriors are seeking a fourth consecutive appearance at the CHAN finals when they lock horns with Lesotho in the first leg of the final qualifier against against Lesotho at Barboufields Stadium on the 18th of October while the Mighty Warriors will be battling it out with Cameroon in the second leg of the Olympic qualifiers against Cameron. The Mighty Warriors already carry a 2-1 deficit following their loss in Cameroon.

ZIFA are currently without a President following the expulsion of Cuthbert Dube from office.

However, CEO Jonathan Mashangaidze has been mandated to run the affairs at ZIFA in accordance to the constitution until elections to elect a new leader are done in June.

In an interview with the Chronicle, Mashangaidze confirmed that the association has been making trips via the SRC in seeking government help.
