South Africa and Zimbabwe to represent Africa

South Africa’s women’s football team will join the Mighty Warriors at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.

Banyana Banyana as they are nicknamed booked their place after beating Equatorial Guinea 1-0 in Bata on Sunday.

The Mighty Warriors beat Cameroon at Rufaro Stadium yesterday to make local football history.

The qualification by both teams means for the first time there will be two Southern Africa football teams representing the continent at the Olympics.

11 other women’s teams are set to join Brazil at the Games .Nations that have already qualified include France, Germany and Colombia.
