Report: Highlanders set to appoint foreign coach

Highlanders are considering a Dutchman as their new head coach it has emerged. Highlanders are without a substantive head coach after firing Bongani Mafu.

Amini Soma Phiri and Cosmas Zulu have taken took over the reins till the end of the current league season.

A number of candidates applied for the top post but according to the Chronicle Highlanders have settled for a Dutchman.

Highlanders CEO Ndumiso Gumede reportedly revealed the information by mistake during the club’s weekly press conference and later said it was a ‘slip of the tongue’.

‘Our potential coach should be with us in the next two weeks said Gumede.

‘He will watch our games Buffaloes,Hwange,Tsholotsho and ZPC Kariba. ‘Actually the person is from Holland, he added.

Highlanders have had a very poor season and are currently in 11th spot with 32 points from 26 games.
