Highlanders and CAPS win big as Chicken Inn and FC Platinum are held

In the Castle Lager Premiership today Highlanders and CAPS United cruised past Hwange and How Mine while they were also winS for ZPC Kariba and Dynamos.

Chicken Inn had to dig deep to salvage a draw against a motivated Tsholotsho determined to stay in the top flight.
The kickoff was delayed due to an ambulance not being at the venue.

When played eventually started Lynoth Chikuhwa gave Tsholotsho the lead on the stroke of halftime but Mitchell Katsvairo levelled matters in the 53rd minute.

FC Platinum failed to take advantage of Chicken Inn’s dropped points when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Flame Lilly.

An impressive Marshall Mudehwe headed in Elvis Moyo’s free kick to give FC Platinum the upper hand.Mapeza’s side continued to dominate but in the second half Flame Lilly’s attacks were causing problems.

Fourteen minutes from fulltime Brighty Chayambuka’s free kick went in to deny FC Platinum all three points.

Dominic Chungwa was the hero for CAPS United as he struck an impressive second half hat-trick to keep up their fight for a top 4 finish. How Mine had held CAPS United in the first half but couldn’t stop the goal coming through after the break.

In Hwange ,Highlanders continued their newly found good form when they dismissed Hwange 4-2. Veteran striker Ralph Matema rolled back the years when scored the opener before the league’s top goal scorer Knox Mutizwa added a second .Matema then struck the third for Highlanders giving them a healthy lead at halftime. However Hwange came back fighting in the second half and goals by David Boriwondo and Gilbert Zulu brought the miners back into the game. Highlanders held onand Mutizwa added a 4th goal right at the end to finish off the game.

At Vengere Stadium Dynamos were given a slight scare but overcame Dongo 2-1 in the end, Kevin Bulaji scored after an assist by Ronald Chitiyo but just before the break Dongo equalised.

Takesure Chinyama restored Dynamos lead a minute into the second half and it was enough to help the defending league champions remain in the title race.

In other games played ZPC Kariba succumbed to a 2-1 loss to relegation threatened Buffaloes.

Whawha could only draw with Harare City a result that means the Gweru based side is relegated .While Chapungu and Triangle played a goalless draw in a match that was affected by heavy rains.
