Chicken Inn to opt out of CAF Champions League?

League champions Chicken Inn are seriously considering not participating in the CAF Champions League.

The ‘Gamecocks’ clinched the league title last weekend after a 3-1 win over Harare City and earned the right to represent Zimbabwe in the continental competition.

However with the current economic climate and the high costs associated with Champions League participation Chicken Inn may opt out.

Chicken Inn chairman Lifa Ncube told the Chronicle, “Indications are that we are unlikely to participate in the safari but we are still weighing out our options.

Ncube stressed the priority would be to put resources to investing in their squad to retain the league title.

If Chicken Inn do opt out FC Platinum or Dynamos could consider the competition depending on which team finishes in second place.

The two teams are on the same number of points with a game to go but FC Platinum have a better goal difference.
