Castle Lager and FC Barcelona coaching clinic kick’s off

Castle Lager and FC Barcelona officially kick-started a four-day coaching clinic with coaches from across Africa, which will be held in Zambia  up to Friday.

Coaches Isaac Guerrero and Daniel Alsina from FCBEscola will take the coaches through in-depth theory sessions, which will be supported be practical sessions to bring to life the theory. The practical sessions will be conducted with the Zambian national team players.

“We are firm believers in the talent in Africa, and we would like to play a role in grooming that talent through training the coaches. We hope the through our efforts we will be able to ultimately produce the next stars from Africa, who will go on to be memorable greats on the international football stage,” said Isaac Guerrero FCBEscola Head Coordinator. He continued, “We are grateful for this opportunity afforded to us through this partnership with Castle Lager.”

Guerrero holds degrees in Physical education, and Physical Activity and Sports, as well as other qualifications that include a level 3 UEFA Pro Coaching Certificate. He has worked as a Head Coach for various professional youth teams in Europe, and is currently the Head Coordinator of FC Barcelona’s FCBEscola. Coach Daniel Alsina’s experience spans from years playing football for various teams. This included playing with legendary players such as Luis Garcia, Xavi Hernandez and Gabriel “Gabri” Garcia. He also specialises in running football camps – which have included running camps for FC Barcelona, and coaching professional football teams.

Speaking on the coaching clinic Zambian Breweries Limited Marketing Director Thomas Kamphuis said, “This is a great opportunity for the coaches to learn new skills from coaches who have worked with some of the best talent in the world. We are confident that the coaches will be able to take what they learn over the next four days, internalise it, and use the skills to further develop the players they work with.”

The coaching clinic will be held at the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka. It will include coaches from host nation Zambia as well as Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe is being represented by Warriors coaches Kallisto Pasuwa, Nation Dube and Mighty Warriors gaffer Shadreck Mlauzi.
