Twine Phiri: Only PSL clubs can remove me

Premier Soccer League chairman Twine Phiri said he is not going anywhere after the Zifa board ordered the PSL to conduct elections for the chairmanship.

This comes in the wake of the ZIFA board’s first meeting  since the election of Dr Phillip Chiyangwa as the new president.Chiyangwa is arguing that since the previous board’s mandate was revoked,  so Twine should leave also.

Chiyangwa also stated that Phiri was no longer the chairman or president at CAPS United since the changes at the club and thus could not remain as PSL chairman

However Phiri has hit back and says only the Premier Soccer League clubs can revoke his mandate ” I am not going anywhere,  I was elected to be the PSL chairman and I will continue to serve in that capacity until my tenure ends or until the PSL board of governors decide to remove me, said Phiri

“I am still a director at Caps United and still very much active in football administration, some people are just here to disturb the smooth flow of things, ” added Phiri.

Phiri was re-elected into office last year after beating Kenny Mubaiwa and his current tenure runs till 2018.

The issue could potentially lead to tension between the country’s football governing body ZIFA and the Premier Soccer League.
