Yaya Toure disappointed after missing fifth CAF African player award

Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has expressed disappointed for losing the 2015 African Footballer of the Year award to Gabonese striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The Manchester City star was hoping to make it five times in a row at the CAF Awards.

The 32-year-old Manchester City and Cote d’Ivoire captain has been named Africa’s player of the year between 2011 and 2014.

Toure would have set a new African record as the only player to have won the award on five occasions after Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon won in four times.

“I’m quite disappointed, but I don’t want to complain too much,” Toure said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“I just want to give credit to Aubameyang – you’ve been doing brilliantly well this year.

“From now on, we just have to play football and not expect anything from anybody.”
