Aubameyang Replies Yaya Toure after CAF Awards Rant

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has stated that he has no interest in Yaya Toure’s recent comments after the Borussia Dortmund forward beat the Manchester City’s midfield talisman to the African Footballer of the Year award.

Aubameyang was voted the winner of the prestigious honour last week, picking up 143 points compared to Toure’s 136. It is the first time the Gabon international has won the award, whereas Toure has been selected as the winner for the previous four consecutive years.

Losing out to the Borussia Dortmund player led Toure to claim the decision brought “shame to Africa” and was “pathetic” per the Guardian, with the Manchester City player clearly taking exception to not winning despite helping the Ivory Coast to the Africa Cup of Nations success in 2015.

However the 26-year-old award winner has indicated that he hasn’t let Toure’s comments bother him.

Aubameyang told Sport Bild: “I really don’t know why he said that at all. I am not going to get angry about it and for me it is already an old story, gone. It simply does not interest me.”
