EPL: Newcastle and Manchester in thrilling draw

Newcastle and Manchester United played a thrilling 3-3 draw at St James Park in the English Premiership yesterday.

The game was full of end to action and controversy as well.

Manchester United went into the lead in the 9th via the penalty spot when Newcastle’s Mbemba had handled the ball while tangling with Fellaini from a high ball. The decision seemed harsh and Newcastle players protested the decision before Rooney made no mistake scoring from the spot.

Seven minutes from halftime Manchester United were 2 up when Rooney turned provider for Lingard slotted in.

Newcastle were back in the game 4 minutes later when Wijnaldum scored with one time effort.

Halftime came with the game promising even more thrills.

The second half belonged to Newcastle as they opposed themselves on Manchester United. In the 66th minute Chris Smalling conceded a penalty when he had his hands all over Mitrovic and eventually brought him down. Mitrovice then stepped to equalise for Newcastle.

In the 79th minute Rooney scored his brace when the ball fell kindly for him before lashing a shot into the top corner.

The goal looked to be the winner by the Magpies had other ideas when Dummet’s shot took a deflection off Smalling to beat David DeGea in goal for Man Utd.

In other matches Aston Villa finally recoded a win when they beat Crystal Palace while West Ham beat Bournemouth 3-1.
