CHAN 2016: Pasuwa takes aim at Eagles

National team coach Callisto Pasuwa has demanded that his players show character and respond to their defeat against Zambia with a better performance against the Eagles of Mali.

The Warriors are sitted precauriously at the bottom of group D and anything less than victory will just but end the Warriors campaign at Rwanda CHAN 2016.

Just like the Zambians, Mali will be psyched by a revenge mission over Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe eliminated the West African team in the previous edition of the tournament in South Africa at the quarter final stage.

While admitting that the Malians have come a better side than they were two years ago, Pasuwa in an interview with the Herald said the Warriors will come up with tactical changes that will suit the physical play of the Malians.

“Mali are looking more grilled at this tournament than when they were in South Africa and I liked the way they responded to the goals they conceded against Uganda and we have to be quick and congest our midfield when we play them” Pasuwa said.

Mali drew 2-2 against Uganda in the other group match.

Meanwhile, The Warriors vice captain Knox Mutizwa also lamented that the team need to rise up to the occassion while ruling out that the team is under emmense pressure following defeat to Zambia.

“I am just sad that we lost our first game yet we didn’t play badly and we created the chances. It is unfortunate that we lost but we now have to quickly put all that behind us and focus on the match against Mali.

“After our match we watched Uganda and Mali playing and both of them are physical and quick but I think we can handle them.” Mutizwa told the Herald.
