Harare City now an attractive brand says chairman

Harare City chairman Alois Masepe says the club is now an attractive brand for players due to the club’s progress and not just money.

The CAF Confederation Cup representatives have been the most active during the transfer season signing the likes of Ronald Chitiyo, Raphael Manuvire Jimmy Tigere  and Edwin Madhanhanga

The signings of Moyo and Chitiyo have led to mixed feelings among local fans and seemed to catch the Dynamos executive off guard.

Dynamos have admitted they cannot compete on a financial level with clubs such as Harare City while some fans have accused players of being greedy and going for money.

However Masepe disagrees, “Players signing for City are just doing it for football reasons he told the club’s official website. There is an attraction at the club, especially our participation in CAF Confederation Cup this season. Most players want that window of opportunity to showcase their talents.

“Where they are coming from is neither here nor there. Dynamos have complained that we are robbing them. No it is not true. The two players we signed from them (Moyo and Chitiyo) were out of contract and therefore free agents. For the record we did not even pay them anything because they came for free. All we negotiated with them are terms of their contracts and what we will pay them are bonuses and the usual retinue of playing for an organized club.

Harare City are set to play Madagascar side AS Adema on the 13th of February.
