Pasuwa blames medical staff for Zambia loss

Warrios head coach Calisto Pasuwa has blamed the technical team for the narrow loss to Zambia in group D first match at CHAN 2016.

The Warriors succumbed to a 1 nil loss against their Southern Africa rivals courtesy of a solitary strike by veteran midfielder Isaac Chansa.

The Zambians capitalised through a gap at the back when Elisha Muroiwa who was on point throughout the match was outside the field of play receiving treatment.

Muroiwa sustained a deep cut below the left eye after clashing with Zambian defender Stephen Kabamba in an aerial tussle and could not continue with play. He was eventually substituted 8 minutes since coming out.

In an interview with the Herald, the coach appeard to blast the technical team for their slowness in alerting the coach to make a substitution.

“We took time to make a decision on Elisha but I had to wait for a signal from the team doctor and he took three minutes to decide on the substitution and that cost us. It is an area that we need to improve on an international match.”, Pasuwa said.

“We are learning also and unfortunately for us we learnt on a bad note because we ended up losing the match.” He added.

Muroiwa will still miss the next encounter since he is still to recover from the knock.
