Brazilian authorities have blocked some of Neymar Jr’s assets, including a jet, a yacht and several properties.
He appealed against the move to freeze over €40m of his assets last week, but a Sao Paulo court rejected it.
Neymar has denied wrongdoing. He isn’t likely to go to jail though, according to Iagaro Jung Martins, who spoke to the Daily Mail.
Martins, an auditor with Brazil’s federal tax agency, said: “He can still appeal that decision, but it is a step forward. Nothing changed to what was in place last year: if he pays what he owes, the case is closed. Our legislation isn’t too harsh.”
