Unstoppable Billiat fires Sundowns to victory

Zimbabwe International Khama Billiat was at his usual best last night as Mamelodi Sundowns dismissed Supersport United 2-0 to extend their lead at the top of the ABSA Premiership table.

Billiat was once again a stand-out performer, constantly threatening the United defence together with his attacking teammates Leornado Castro and Keagan Dolly.

Sundowns went into the halftime break leading 1-0 courtesy of a strike by Mbekile.

Billiat scored the second and killed off the match in the 75th minute through a well composed finish after being set by Castro. The Colombian pick-pocketed a lethargic Dove Wome before sending his attacking partner through on goal; the Zimbabwean provided a cool finish into the roof of the net.

That became Sundowns’ 16th win in 22 league fixtures and opened a 10 point gap between the Brazilians and second-placed Bidvest Wits; victory also stretches their unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership to 18 games.
