Yaya Touré set to leave Man City in the summer

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is set to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer after his outspoken agent, Dimitri Seluk, confirmed that he will begin looking for a new club as of now.

Seluk, who has regularly threatened that his client will quit City over the last couple of years, issued a public ultimatum to the club hierarchy earlier this month demanding a new contract for the veteran Ivorian.

However, it appears that City were not willing to play ball and extend the deal of an individual whose influence on the team has significantly faded since the start of last season. Seluk has been keen to make the latest update public as well.

“From this moment we start to discuss with different clubs about Yaya going there in the summer,” the agent told the the Sun, the same newspaper that he used for his initial threat.

“City don’t do anything concrete. Yaya has given everything for the club and we don’t feel that this situation is the right way to show how much they appreciate him.”

Toure has previously been ‘underappreciated’ by City with things as trivial as a lack of a birthday cake on a post-season trip to Abu-Dhabi in May 2014.

The player has been linked with a move to Jiangsu Suning in the Chinese Super League, but Seluk has previously specified that his client is not solely motivated by the money on offer and would have moved east already if that was the case.

According to the report from the Sun which published Seluk’s comments, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain all hold an interest in Toure, who is due to turn 33 years of age at the end of the season.
