Gumede: Highlanders not interested in Chinyama

Highlanders have dismissed any interest in want away Dynamos forward Takesure Chinyama.

Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede said they have never developed a soft spot for the services of former national team and Orlando Pirates striker.

“We are not interested in Chinyama. That is unfounded. Some weeks ago, Dynamos secretary Webster Chikengezha phoned us. He altered us that the player has a running contract with Dynamos. We told him (Chikengezha) that we are not chasing the player,” said Gumede.

Chinyama has reportedly requested to leave the Glamour Boys after it emerged that he was not part of DeMbare’s provisional squad that was forwarded to the Premier Soccer League late last week.

The player has had an uneasy relationship with Dynamos head coach Paulo Jorge Silva and believes his time at the club is up and does not appear to be in Silva’s plans. Chinyama believes he will be fit to play soon while Silva has indicated to the club executive that he is injured and can’t play.

Chinyama’s contract also expires in a few months’ time adding motivation to seek a new club.

Dynamos are keen to keep Chinyama and have offered him a coaching role.
