FC Platinum edge Ngezi as Mutare City earn first points

FC Platinum edged Ngezi Platinum 1-0 in a Castle Lager Premiership match played at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon.

Walter Musona struck in the fourth minute to win the game for the visitors. It was game where each side dominated each half with FC Platinum dictating the proceedings in the first half but Ngezi Platinum came back a much better team after the break.

Ngezi Platinum let themselves down in the final third despite creating openings in the second half with FC Platinum forced to defend for long periods. Mabvura and Tigeru were guilty of squandering the chances that came their way,

Nqobizitha Masuku was sent off for a rough tackle in the 74th minute.Walter Musona had two good chances to add more goals but saw his efforts saved by Ngezi.

The result means FC Platinum maintained their 100% start with four wins out of four to regain top spot with 12 points.

At Maglas Stadium in Zvishavane Mutare City registered their first win of the season beating Border Strikers 1-0. Sam Msimbu scored the winner on the 79th minute mark. Border Strikers had Peter Sibanda sent off as they slumped to a fourth straight defeat.
