Joey Antipas signs for Amazulu!

Chicken Inn head coach Joey Antipas has signed a contract with South African National First Division side Amazulu.

Antipas had attracted the attention of South African clubs after clinching the Zimbabwe Premier League title and giving a good account in the CAF Champions League where they were knocked out by Mamelodi Sundowns.

However despite interest from a number of teams its former ABSA Premiership side Amazulu that have captured “Mafero”’s signature.

His contract was set to expire at the end of this year.

“I can confirm that it’s now a done deal ,he has signed ,Amazulu have earmarked him to get them back in the ABSA Premiership a source close to the deal told Soccer24.

Amazulu have had a disappointing season and are currently in 9th place on the NFD log table. The club recently sacked Steve Barker after he failed to meet the target of returning to the ABSA Premiership.

Amazulu are expected to make an official announcement sometime this week. Antipas leaving could be a big blow for the Gamecocks who seem to be paying the price for their success.

Already Edmore Chirambadare and Mitchelle Katsvairo are expected to join Kaizer Chiefs mid year while the trio of Danny Phiri,Moses Demera and Tafadzwa Kutinyu are also being considered by Golden Arrows.

Antipas has clinched the Zimbabwe Premier League twice first with Motor Action in 2010 then with Chicken Inn last season.
