Pasuwa worried about Rufaro playing surface

Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa has raised concerns over the bad state of Rufaro Stadium ahead of the Warriors Clash with Uganda in an International friendly.

The Uganda National team arrived in the country yesterday and the two teams will battle it out today at Rufaro Stadium as part of preparations for the weekend AFCON qualifiers. Zimbabwe host Malawi on Sunday the 5th while Uganda travel away to Botswana for their encounter.

Earlier in the week Uganda coach Micho raised concerns over Rufaro questioning the logic of playing on artificial turf while both teams’ matches they are preparing for are on natural grass.

Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa has also raised concerns saying some players have already developed blisters while training on the hard surface.

speaking to the Chronicle Pasuwa acknowledged the importance of the friendly match with concerns over the pitch.

“… we have one area of concern, we trained (at Rufaro) in the morning and I have five players who have blisters. The turf is very hard. “Since we there are 23 guys who are in camp, they will play their part but I don’t think others will play 90 minutes there,” said Pasuwa.

Meanwhile ZIFA still insists the match to played at Rufaro. The cheapest ticket for the match has been pegged at $1 while VIP tickets are $3.
