Report: Warriors beat Uganda in friendly

The Zimbabwe national team beat Uganda 2-0 in an international friendly played in front of a appreciative at Rufaro Stadium.

Chicken Inn’s Teenage Hadebe was the hero as he scored with two powerful headers in the first half.

A total of 17 players were used by Pasuwa among there Khama Billiat ,Polish based Andre Gwaze  and Jomo Cosmos striker Charlton Mashumba as he used the match for the upcoming AFCON qualifier against Malawi and COSAFA Cup.

Costa Nhamionesu,Willard Katsande, Knowledge Musona and Tendai Ndoro all sat out.

The Warriors settled early and Hadebe thrust Zimbabwe into the lead following a cross by Kuda Mahachi in the fourth minute.

Despite the early set back the visitors threatened to equalise forcing Tatenda Mukuruva into a couple of saves.

On the 30 minute mark Hadebe made it 2-0 for the Warriors when he found himself unmarked to head in.

Uganda came very close to pulling a goal back when German based forward Melvyen Lorezen struck the wood work.

Andrew Gwaze had a decent debut and lasted the first half before being substituted.

Halftime came with the Warriors in the lead. The second half saw man of the moment Khama Billiat introduced to a rousing applause for the lively Kuda Mahachi . Billiat did not disappoint the expectant crowd with some trickery as the game wound down.

Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa expressed satisfaction with the friendly and said it allowed him to assess some of his players in game situations.
