Netone and NFAZ in landmark deal

The newly formed National Football Association of Zimbabwe (NFAZ) completed a landmark sponsorship deal with the country’s second biggest mobile operator Netone yesterday.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed yesterday by President Philip Chiyangwa and Netone acting CEO Brian Mutandiro following talks in recent months.

The sponsorship deal will see Netone eventually sponsoring various national teams while gaining mileage from the local football scene and creating revenue as a company.

NFAZ president Philip Chiyangwa was quick to point out that the deal would not just be about Netone pouring in money into the association but rather a partnership that would see Netone’s business grow.

“The partnership entails that we sweat for it said Chiyangwa. “It will not be just be about Netone dipping and giving us money.

While Mutandiro said the partnership was exciting for them and were looking forward to being involved even more in football with the partnership.

Netone are no stranger to local football sponsorship having been bank rolling Premier League Soccer League competitions such as  the One Wallet and Easy Call Cup in seasons gone by.
