South Africa clinch 2016 Cosafa Cup

South Africa have clinched the 2016 edition of the Cosafa Cup after beating Botswana 3-2 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

It’s the fourth time South Africa have clinched the cup.

The match was full of  incident as questionable officiating grabbed the limelight. Okgabetse Makgantai gave Botswana the lead in the 16th minute but Gift Motupa equalised from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute.

South Africa was blown twice for two questionable off sides in the first half before going in front in what looked like a genuine offside situation.

Botswana equalised after a blunder by SA keeper Reyaad Pieterse who let the ball  through his fingers after a Kabelo Seakanyeng effort.

South Africa then sealed the win with a late penalty  after the ball hit Joel Mogorosi’s hand. Motupa converted converted the spot kick.
