Policeman injured after Barbourfields violence

Bulawayo Police have confirmed that one policeman was left injured following violent scenes after Highlanders’ 1-1 draw with Chicken Inn at Barbourfields.

Highlanders fans hurled missiles during and after the match while there was a pitch invasion after the final whistle.

Police Superintendent for Bulawayo West Mthokozisi Manzini-Moyo told the Chronicle that the injured cop sustained a cut on his head but was out of danger and arrests had been made as investigations continue.

Attempts to restrain the angry Highlanders fans coming from the Soweto end of the stadium yielded poor results and it was the police that were forced to take cover after being chased by fans.
