Mutare City docked points

The Premier Soccer League has deducted three points from Mutare City for using an ineligible player, Kudakwashe Gurure for their match against FC Platinum.

Gurure was suspended after receiving three yellow cards but  still played the match which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Part of a statement from the PSL read:

Mutare City FC contravened Order 33.4 of the PSL Rules and Regulations which states that: “… where a player has accumulated  three yellow cards he shall automatically be suspended for one official match…such suspension should be applicable on the next official match”

In addition, the club has also been fined a sum of $1,250.00 (One Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty United States Dollars) which must be paid by 10 September 2016.

FC Platinum will remain with their one point from the game.

The ruling will come as a blow to Mutare City in their battle to survive. The club now has 17 points but remain in 14th place.
