Highlanders beat Dynamos again, ending Barbourfields jinx

Highlanders came from behind to beat Dynamos 2-1 at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon. The victory was the first over Dynamos at Barbourfields in ten years.

Dynamos made a good start creating the early chances with Ocean Mushure a key figure in their attacks.However Highlanders eventually settled and started to control the game.

Tatenda Mukuruva was kept very busy with Prince Dube forcing a good save from him in the 13th minute.

In the 17th minute Rahman Kutsanzira went even closer when he struck the woodwork with his effort with the keeper clearly beaten.

However despite the dominance Highlanders were enjoying it was Dembare that took the lead through Masimba Mambare who tapped in after a good knock down from a free kick.

Halftime came with Highlanders trailing.

Dynamos continued to pile the pressure straight after halftime but were kept out by a well marshalled defence that included Peter Muduhwa would had a brilliant game.

In the 75th minute Highlanders scored the equaliser with Tendai Ndlovu heading in a corner. Before Dynamos could even recover the impressive Muduhwa found Ralph Matema with his cross and veteran striker scored the winner to the delight of Highlanders fans.

Struck by the two quick Dynamos struggled in pursuit of the equaliser as Highlanders held onto record a double over their great rivals.

The result sees Highlanders continue to remain in the title race and are six points behind log leaders FC Platinum and five behind second placed CAPS United.
