Tarumbwa sentenced to 5 months in prison

Chicken Inn Striker Obadiah Tarumbwa has been sentenced to 5 months in prison for defaulting payment of maintenance for his two children.

The sentence is however wholly suspended on condition that the former Highlanders player pays the money in arrears of $543.00 before the end of 30 October.

Tarumbwa pleaded guilty and in his defence said he is facing financial challenges as Chicken Inn are not paying him enough.

“My team is not paying me enough money Your Worship.

“As it is I’m being paid per game that I play. I’m no longer getting the same amount I was getting when I was at Highlanders. I’ll do my best to settle my debt,” said Tarumbwa.

In passing sentence Miss Mashavukure said Tarumbwa should take care of his family and be a responsible man.
