Players clashed over match fixing money during CHAN says Pasuwa

Warriors head coach Callisto Pasuwa has revealed that some national team players clashed over match fixing money during the CHAN tournament.

Pasuwa was testifying in court during the on-going Limpopo gate  scandal where Rushwaya, former Kasinauyo and Nation Dube are being charged with match-fixing and bribery

The Warriors crashed out of the tournament in the first round. ZIFA has already indicated CHAN matches and other Warriors games were influenced by match fixers.

Pasuwa also named former assistant coach Nation Dube, former Zifa board member Edzai Kasinauyo ,former Warriors coach Ian Gorowa and Henrietta Rushwaya as key figures in the scandal.

The trio are alleged to have been working with Asian match fixers among them Chan Sankran to fix the Warriors AFCON qualifier against Swaziland.

Pasuwa says he got information on the plan to fix games from the whistleblower Leroy Waguta who was part of the match fixers before bringing the plot to light.

He admitted he did not take Waguta seriously until some of his revelations came true like Kasinauyo’s constant demand and pressure to release the squad list for the AFCON qualifiers.

“There was an altercation between players who had agreed to fix matches and the match fixers after there were not given their money which Dube had not delivered said Pasuwa.

Pasuwa says he only got to know about the match fixing of CHAN games well after the tournament from Waguta.

Dube had been assigned to distribute money to the players but there was concern that he had been doing a sloppy job with the match fixers warning that each player should get their money for the next assignment which was to fix the Swaziland tie.

Pasuwa revealed that each of the players was to receive $35 000 to fix the back to back matches against Swaziland.

The trial is set to resume next week on the 13th of October.
