Underdog tag will favour Warriors at AFCON 2017

Zimbabwe national team players have reacted positively to the AFCON 2017 drawn.

The Warriors who clinched a place at next year’s tournament as group winners were drawn to face Algeria, Tunisia and Senegal in Group B.

Despite being the underdogs Bidvest Wits striker Cuthbert Malajila believes it will work in favour of the Warriors.

“As the lowest ranked nation at the tournament we will obviously be carrying the underdog’s tag which we must use to our advantage because some teams will underestimate use Malajila told Kickoff.com

“That then gives us the chance to bite them unaware. We are brave enough to take on this challenge he added.

Golden Arrows midfielder Danny Phiri admitted the draw was tough but said good preparations were key if Zimbabwe was to do well.

“This is a tough group that we are in but it was always going to be expected anyway because all the teams that made it to Afcon are tough teams Phiri told Soccer24. “However, we have a chance of progressing to the next stages of the competition if we have adequate preparations ahead of the tournament.

Sweden based Matthew Rusike welcomed the draw as well:
