Leonard Tsipa’s strike keeps CAPS United on top

An early Leonard Tsipa strike was good enough to keep Caps United on top of the log as they edged a determined Harare City 1 nil at Rufaro stadium this afternoon.

CAPS United started strongly and before most fans could take their seats the veteran striker had slotted the ball in the back of the net after some clever play in the middle of the park.

It was Tsipa’s 11th goal of the season.

Harare City seemed to have been spurred by the goal as they went on to attack Caps United but the young guns thrown in today by coach Moses Chunga were not clinical in front of goal

Just after 7 minutes there was a controversial moment when Caps United goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda handled outside the box in a goal scoring situation but the referee was lenient enough as he flashed the yellow card when most thought it was a red card offence

Makepekepe would come back to knock on the Harare City goal after 23 minutes and again the veteran striker Tsipa was on hand to put the ball in the back of the net but this time it was ruled out for offside a decision that did not go well with the Caps faithful’s.

That was to be the last meaningful contribution from Tsipa as four minutes later he was injured and replaced by Joel Ngodzo.

The second half had little action with the Sunshine City Boys doing more of the attacking with Makepekepe content with seating back and Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe brought in Devon Chafa to shut shop and just seat back and the match ended 1 nil in favor of Caps United.

CAPS United are now on 57 points with two games left to play and have a two point advantage over second placed FC Platinum.
