FC Platinum keep title hope alive

FC Platinum kept their hopes of a league and cup double with a 2-0 win over Chapungu at Ascot stadium.

Tarisai Rukanda and Walter Musona scored the two important goals in the second half which ensured that Platinum remain in the hunt for the league title going into the last two games of the season.

The victory saw FC Platinum edge Highlanders into the second place with 55 points. Platinum were cautious in the first half but came back the better side in the second half with Marshal Mudehwe enjoying lots of space on the left.

Mudehwe worked out the first goal when he got the better of his marker on the left before squaring the ball to Rukanda inside the box who beat Rukanda with a rising curling shot.

Musona then put a cushion to their lead when he tapped in into an empty net in the 73rd minute when Roy Mazingi had a howler, fumbling a cross from the right.

Rukanda could have doubled his effort four minutes later when he was allowed a free header in the box but he headed over the bar.  Chapungu had their fair share of chances in the second half but  they lacked accuracy in front of goal.
