Well wishers come through for Mighty Warriors

The Mighty Warriors are set to start preparations for the African Women’s Cup of Nation’s(AWCON) tomorrow after a fundraising committee stepped up to help the squad.

The preparations have been chaotic at best with ZIFA seemingly not doing much for the women’s squad to prepare for the tournament which starts on the 19th of November.

However a group of well-wishers that include corporate leaders such as Old Mutual executive  Lillian Mubaiwa ,Telecel’s Francis Chimhanda, Rainbow Tourism Group’s Pride Khumalo have set up initiatives to mobilise funds for the Women’s team.

The squad will start their preparations at ZESA’s training centre in Harare on Wednesday.

The Mighty Warriors need about $300 000 and with only weeks away till the start of the tournament are running out of time.

Despite this Mubaiwa said they would do their best in the limited time left.

The committee has set up a fundraising dinner at Rainbow Towers on Wednesday night according to Mubaiwa. The dinner has received a positive response from leading corporates she added.

In addition fans can participate in a car raffle that will cost only 50c to enter and will be billed  from a user’s airtime on three of the main mobile networks with money raised going towards the Mighty Warriors.
