Pasuwa’s Warriors Squad irk fans

Soccer loving football fans across the country have reacted with anger over the selection of the Warriors squad by Callisto Pasuwa.

The Warriors are set for a friendly match against Zambia this weekend as they seek to start preparations for Gabon AFCON 2017.

The major talking points was the inclusion of Dynamos Striker Roderick Mutuma and Caps United inform striker Leornard Tsipa.

The fans feel Roderick Mutuma has done nothing to warranty a National team call up while Tsipa who besides being in form, will be turning 35 next year and is not likely to offer any challenge for experienced Senegalese and North African defenders.

Meanwhile, others felt that players like Peter Muduhwa of Highlanders deserved a chance to be called up for the national team.

In his defence, Pasuwa said he preferred players with experience at the AFCON stage.

“Some of these players were partly involved in the Afcon qualifiers, some played Cosafa games and some were at the CHAN finals.

“All that is important when selecting players, you can take players on current form but when put on a grand stage, some buckle under pressure.

“Then you have players who have been in the system and are used to the rigors,” said Pasuwa on the sidelines of a press conference held at ZIFA offices Thursday afternoon.

The Warriors host Chipolopolo in a friendly match at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday evening.
