Matthew Rusike’s Helsingborg relegated

Matthew Rusike’s Helsingborg were relegated from the Swedish top flight at the weekend. A Marcus Mathisen double in the last three minutes gave the Halmstad a 3-2 aggregate victory and saw Helsingborg drop out of the Allsvenskan.

Ironically Rusike turned out for Halmstad before they were relegated leading him to join Helsingborg.

Rusike scored his first goal for the Warriors in the friendly against Tanzania and it remains to be seen wether he will be moving on from Helsingborg or joining another club. He ends the season with 3 goals in 25 games.

The match had nasty end with Helsingborg manager Henrik Larsson and his striker son Jordan attacked by fans following the loss.

Helsingborg have been champions Swedish champions seven times in their history and the relegation is their first in 23 years.
