Mlauzi banks on Olympics experience

The Mighty Wariors coach Shadreck Mlauzi has expressed confidence going into Zimbabwe’s AWCON 2nd match against Egypt tonight.

Zimbabwe who will need nothing shot of victory if they entertain any hopes of progressing to the next round comes face to face with Egypt.

The Egyptians are still looking for their first ever AWCON win – They were humbled 2-0 by the hosts Cameroon while the Mighty Warriors played a nil all draw against neighbours South Africa.

Mlauzi appeared to be happy with how things have gone so far and says the experience the girls had at the Olympics in Rio must finally come to play.

“Unlike some comments, the result of our first game (0-0 with South Africa) is not bad. We are aiming for a victory now that will allow us to advance in the competition. I believe that our participation in the 2016 Olympic Games was a great contribution. This allowed us to play with intensity. We will put this experience to work as far as possible.”, Mlauzi said speaking at the pre match press conference.

When the two sides met earlier in the year, The Mighty Warriors beat the Egyptians 2-1 at Rufaro stadium.

Speaking at the same conference, Mighty Warriors Captain Talent Mandaza said they are ready to battle and they are aiming for victory.

“We take the matches as they come. Against Egypt, it will be a great match. Then face Cameroon on the last day. We are not afraid of any team.”, Said Mandaza.

The game is set for 2000hrs (Zim time) while hosts Cameroon will play South Africa in an earlier Kick Off in the other Group A match up.
