John Nyikadzino leaves Chapungu

Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino has resigned from Gweru based premiership side Chapungu after five seasons at the helm.

Nyikadzino reportedly threw in the towel after his side’s 0 – 1 loss to Caps United on Monday at Ascot Stadium a result which handed the Green Machine the league title.

Chapungu chief executive officer Chris Levine- Mukoekwa confirmed the departure of Nyikadzino.

“Yes I can confirm that we have parted ways with our coach John Nyikadzino. We wish him well in his future endeavours and after the  seasons he has been in charge in the premiership we felt we had come to a point where our vision could not be realised with the current coach,” he said.

He said Clement Mugari who was Nyikadzino’s assistant would be the acting coach until a replacement is found.

Nyikadzino who left the airmen in 2008 following the side’s relegation from the premiership.

He rejoined “Waru Waru” in 2011 and guided the side into the premiership

He is the premiership’s longest serving coach after four full seasons in charge of the airmen.
