Warriors beat Zambia to clinch record fifth Cosafa Cup title

The Zimbabwe national team have clinched a record fifth Cosafa Cup title after beating Zambia 3-1 this afternoon.

Both sides created early chances as action swung from one end to another

Knox Mutizwa put the Warriors in the lead when he took advantage of the Zambian keeper CHibwe failing to clear a long ball from Honest Moyo.

On the 30th minute Mutizwa almost doubled the lead  but Chibwe was on hand to save.  In the 39th minute Zambian substitute Mundia made an immediate impact when he scored with his first touch since coming on

Halftime came with the scoreline level at 1-1.

The Warriors started the second half strongly, pressing Zambia by launching a series of attacks. In the 57th minute the pressure finally paid off when Talent Chawapiwa drilled in the second for the Warriors after Knox Mutizwa’s effort had come off the post.

In the 67th minute man of the match Talent Chawapiwa turned provider when he found Ocean Mushure with a good lay off which the left back scored from the edge of the box to make it 3-1 to the Warriors.

Zimbabwe continued to dictate proceeding while Zambia chased the game. George Chigova made a stunning one handed save in added time to deny Zambia again as the Warriors sealed the win.

The victory sees Chidzambwa also become the most successful Warriors coach with a record three titles to his name .
