Benyu makes his first competitive Celtic start

Kundai Benyu made his first competitive start for Celtic in League Cup last-16 5 nil win over Kilmarnock as Brendan Rodgers made a number of changes from the team that swept Hearts aside at the weekend in the opening league match of the season.

The 19-year-old, who had featured twice from the bench for the Bhoys since joining from Ipswich Town in the summer, started on the left of an attacking trident, operating behind lone striker Griffiths.

Benyu made a good account of himself creating chances for his teammates whilst he was guilty of missing chances to put himself on the scoresheet until he was subbed later on in the 70th minute.

However, goals from a brace by Griffiths (14′ penalty, 29′), Ralston 21′, Tierney 66′ and Armstrong 71′ ensured that the league holders run way with comfortable victory.
