Mapeza: Stability has lead to FC Platinum run

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza reckons the fine run by his charges which has put them back into the title race is as a result of stability at the club.

The platinum miners had an indifferent start to the season which saw a section of the club’s supporters calling for the axing of Mapeza but the club’s executive kept faith in the former Monomotapa gaffer until the tide changed in the Zvishavane side’s favour.

“We are at this position because of the stability at the club. Our executive could see that were playing good football but it was only that results were not coming because it is part of the game that you sometimes go through a lean spell.

“It’s only that ours came at the start but our executive understood that. It pays to have stability at a club because now we are now back in the championship race,” said Mapeza.

The former national team coach said he is not putting his players under pressure by talking much about the championship but would want to win every game.

Mapeza said he doesn’t want to read much into the title race or how other teams are playing.

Despite losing seven regular players who included Walter Musona and Wisdom Mutasa who are now plying their trade in Slovakia during the transfer window, the Zvishavane based side never showed any sign of a depleted outfit, as they have gone on a twelve match unbeaten run.

Pure Platinum Play are third on the log standings, four points adrift of log leaders Chicken Inn.

A win against Dynamos at Mandava on Saturday will pit them as firm title contenders.
