Muzondiwa wants perfect birthday present against Dembare

In-form FC Platinum striker Brian Muzondiwa is seeking a perfect birthday present with a win against Dynamos in a crunch premiership match at Mandava stadium on Saturday.

Muzondiwa who has hit a rich vein of form scoring seven goals in the last six league matches turned 23 on Wednesday and would want to cap it up with a win against the Glamour Boys.

“I turned 23 on Wednesday and I would want to celebrate it, with a win against Dynamos. I am hoping that I will continue with my scoring touch,”  Muzondiwa told Soccer24.

If he scores, the FC Platinum forward who has scored seven goals could close the gap between him and leading scorer Knox Mutizwa who is on 10 goals and Edmore Chirambadare of Chicken Inn who is on nine goals.

The Zvishavane based outfit is just a point behind Dynamos and a win on Saturday will swing firmly in the title race.

The Platinum miners have already hiked the gate charges from the usual $3 to $5 so as to minimise the numbers of the vociferous Dynamos supporters as well as the rented rival Shabanie supporters who always support any opposition against them.

Dynamos have always enjoyed a good run at Mandava stadium, with their most famous win coming in 2011 when Daniel Veremu scored an own goal.

Pure Platinum Play needed at least a draw to guarantee them the league title provided they won the last match against Shooting Stars,  but the slip up heralded the first of a series of Dembare’s four  league titles in a row.

A win for FC Platinum will put them within reach of  log leaders Chicken Inn and in line to be the first team outside Bulawayo and Harare in 50 years to win the league title.
