Mourinho: “I trust the players and will not ask for any changes”

Jose Mourinho has once again expressed his confidence in his current players, despite languishing near the bottom of the Premier League table. During a press briefing ahead of the Chelsea versus Norwich City game slated for this weekend, the former Real Madrid manager also revealed that the English club can still finish in the top four position at the end of the season.

The Blues will host Norwich City on Saturday in a match they need to garner three crucial points in order to redeem their hopes of finishing at a respectable position at the end of the season. The defending champions have lost their last three league matches, and find themselves in the 16th position on the log after 12 matches.

“I will not ask for any change to the squad for January. I’m happy with my players.”

Confidence in his players: “They know they are playing more than okay, individually and collectively, and the results have to come. We are positive. I don’t think we are going to start the game under any kind of pressure, we just want to play.”

Unlike last season when they won the league, many Chelsea players, except the likes of Willian, have been a pale shadow of themselves this season, including the once-promising Hazard and Diego Costa, who was the club’s top scorer in the 2014/2015 season with a total of 20 goals.

Their weekend opponents have only managed to gather three points out of a possible 21 in their last seven maches. If Chelsea loses to The Canaries, they could drop further down the table, precisely into the relegation zone.

However, despite hinting that the club will not buy any new players in January, there are rumours that players such as Radamel Falcao and Eden Hazard could be sold to Valencia and Real Madrid respectively, when the transfer window opens.
