Chiyangwa faces immediate challenges at ZIFA

The much anticipated ZIFA Elections have come and gone. Flamboyant businessman Philip Chiyangwa pulled a landslide victory to become Zifa President.

“The office come with lots of responsibilities”, Fifa official  FIFA ‎Manager Member Associations Luca Nicola who observed the elections was quick to warn Mr Chiyangwa.

Zimbabwe faces a potential 2022 World Cup for failing to settle former Warriors coach Tom Saintfiet’s dues believed to be amounting to over USD100000.

Zimbabwe has already been banned from taking part in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers as a sanction for failing to settle another coach, Valinhos debt.

Luca Nicola, FIFA’s manager for member associations, told Chiyangwa that he has work cut out for himself and the executive in order to stop further sanctions.

Zimbabwe has up to the 24th of January to settle the dues or risk another ban.

Chiyangwa replaces Cuthbert Dube who was voted out of office.

Chiyangwa secured a total of 40 votes while fans favourite Trevor Juul could only manage 13. Leslie Gwindi got one vote while James Takavada had one vote.

Omega Sibanda won the ZIFA vice presidency getting 34 votes compared to Lincolin Mutasa’s 23.

Mabhena ,Kamambo ,Machana and Edzai Kasinauyo were elected to the ZIFA board.
