Arsenal completed a great escape to qualify for the UEFA Champions League last 16 by beating Greek side Olympiakos 3-0.
The Gunners were facing elimination from the competition and needed at least a 2-0 scoreline to proceed and produced an impressive performance in Greece with Oliver Giroud getting a hat-trick.
Arsenal finished as runners up in the group while Bayern Munich beat Dynamos Zagreb to finish top of the group with 15 points.
Chelsea put their league form behind them as they beat Porto to progress to the final 16 as well. Porto were unlucky to concede when Ivan Marcano scored into his own net after Iker Casillas saved Diego Costa’s initial shot after12 minutes.
Chelsea then wrapped up the win when Willian fired home early in the second half. Chelsea thus finish top of Group G. Dynamo Kyiv finished 2nd in the group after edging Maccabi TA.
German side Bayer Leverkusen missed out on qualification when they played out a 1-1 draw with a largely second string Barcelona side.
Chicharito equalised for Leverkusen after Lionel Messi had given Barcelona the lead. Leverkusen had good chances to win the game but squandered their chances. Barcelona top the group with 14 points while Roma came second because of a better head to head record than Leverkusen.
