Official: Antipas rejects Warriors job

Chicken Inn head coach Joey Antipas has turned down the Warriors head coach post despite ZIFA announcing that they had appointed him after firing of Callisto Pasuwa yesterday.

The move was greeted with shock but the confusion continues with Antipas rejecting the offer and in the process embarrassing the ZIFA executive.

Antipas told Soccer24 this morning, “I am not keen on the Warriors job. I have turned down the offer. It was a hastily  arranged thing and I have a club commitment added Antipas

Chicken Inn are playing in the CAF Confederation Cup and Antipas wants to focus on that.

Antipas sentiments were echoed by Chicken Inn treasurer Mlungisi Moyo who said it was going to be difficult for their head coach to juggle the club and national team.

Chicken Inn have already set January 7 as the date to start camp for the CAF Confederation Cup.

Antipas rejection of the job will no doubt put the Warriors preps for CHAN 2016 into more uncertainty after camp was dissolved yesterday with the announcement of a new technical team.

Dynamos head coach Tonderai Ndiraya is also understand to have distanced himself away from the post after being named as the assistant coach, but is yet to officially comment.
