Stoke pile more misery on Manchester United

Manchester United ‘s bad run of form continued when they were beaten 2-0 by Stoke City in a English Premiership match played at the Britannia Stadium this afternoon.

It was Louis Van Gaal’s side three straight league defeat and fourth in all competitions to heap more pressure on the Dutchman.

Stoke City had an Memphis Depay error to thank for their opening goal in the 19th minute. Depay tried to head the ball back to David DeGea but the soft touch allowed Johnson to get the ball and cross to Bojan who scored.

In the 26th minute Stoke made it two nil when Arnautovic reacted quickly after Bojan free kick had bounced back off the Man United wall. Arnautovic smashed the ball in giving no chance to De Gea.

Stoke could have added mores goals in the first half as Manchester United struggled to cope. Halftime came with the home side leading comfortably.

Manchester United introduced Wayne Rooney in the second half and though the Red Devils put up a much better display they could not get past the Stoke defence with Butland in particular pulling out some key saves.

The defeat helps Stoke City climb to 8th position with 26 points while Manchester United remain in sixth spot with 29 points before other Boxing Day matches are played.
