Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger believes his team have the mental strength to win their first league title in 11 years.

Arsenal head into the New Year on top of the log standings but questions still remain on wether the Gunners can have a sustained title changed having faded at crucial times in years gone by.

Talking to the media Wenger said, ‘You question our mentality but I don’t. ‘We have to rise above that and show that we can deal with all that.

“We have a good chance as the statistics show you that eight of the past 11 years the team who was top on New Year’s Day won it.’

Arsenal are in action against Newcastle United on Saturday.
